What we believeI. The Holy ScripturesWe believe the Old and New Testament to be the inspired Word of God revealing the will of God to man; authoritative and inerrant.(2 Peter 1:20-21, 1 Peter 1:23-25, 1 Thess. 2:13, 2 Timothy 3:16-17) II. The One True GodWe believe in the one triune God existing in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – eternal in being, identical in nature, equal in power and glory and having the same attributes and perfections.(Deut. 6:4, Isaiah 43:10-11, Matthew 28:19, Luke 3:21-22) III. The Total Depravity of ManWe believe that man was created good and upright, in the image and likeness of God. However, in Adam’s sin, the race of mankind fell, and inherited a sinful nature, thereby alienating himself from God. Man, apart from God, is totally unable to retrieve his lost condition.(Genesis 1:26-27, 2:17, 3:6, Romans 5:12-19) IV. The Person and Work of Jesus ChristWe believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God who became man without ceasing to be God, conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary (Matthew 1:23, John 1:1-2, John 1:14, Luke 1:31-35); that He lived a sinless life (Hebrews 7:26, 1 Peter 2:21-22); that He redeemed man from the power and effects of sin and this redemption is made sure to us by His literal physical resurrection from the dead (Romans 4:25, 1 Peter 1:3-5); that the Lord Jesus Christ is now in heaven, exalted at the right hand of God where, as the high priest for His people, He fulfills the ministry of representative, intercessor, and advocate. (Hebrews 7:25, 9:24, Romans 8:34, 1 John 2:1-2)V. The Person and Work of the Holy SpiritWe believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Godhead who indwells all believers in the present age, baptizes them into the body of Christ, seals them unto the day of redemption, and that it is a privilege and responsibility of every believer to be filled with the Holy Spirit.(Romans 8:9, 1 Corinthians 12:12-14, Ephesians 1:13-14,5:18) VI. The Gift of SalvationWe believe Salvation is the gift of God that can only be received by grace through faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ, which provided man’s reconciliation to God.(Romans 3:23-26; 10:8-10, Ephesians 2:8-9, Titus 3:5-7) VII. The Baptism of The Holy SpiritWe believe that all believers are entitled to and should earnestly seek the baptism of the Holy Spirit, according to the command of the Lord Jesus Christ (John 20:22, Acts 1:4-5); that this was the normal experience of the early church and is an experience distinct from and subsequent to the experience in the new birth (Acts 8:12-17, 10:44-46; 11:14-16, 15:7-9); and that with the baptism in the Holy Spirit comes an empowering to do the works of Christ (John 14:12-14, Acts 1:8) an intensified love for Christ, consecration to God, and dedication to His work. (Acts 2:38-43, Mark 16:20)VIII. The Initial Evidence of The Baptism in The Holy SpiritWe believe that the baptism in the Holy Spirit is witnessed by the initial physical sign of speaking with other tongues as the Holy Spirit gives utterance. (Mark 17:17, Acts 2:4, 10:44-46, 19:1-6, 1 Corinthians 14:18)IX. Divine HealingWe believe that divine healing is an integral part of the Gospel. Deliverance from all sickness, disease, and infirmity is provided for in the atonement, and is the privilege of all believers. (Isaiah 53:4-5, Matthew 8:16-17, 1 Peter 2:24, James 5:14-16)X. The Gifts of the Holy SpiritWe believe that God the Holy Spirit in grace, apart from human merit or ability, divinely and sovereignly bestows spiritual gifts to believers (1 Corinthians 12:11-18, 1 Corinthians 12:4-10) and that these gifts are given for the benefit of the believer (1 Corinthians 12:7) as well as the body of Christ, the church (1 Corinthians 14:12), and to demonstrate Christ to the World. (Mark 16:17, Acts 1:8)XI. The MinistryWe believe that a divinely called, and scripturally ordained fivefold ministry, has been provided by the Lord, for a twofold purpose: The building up of the church, and the evangelization of the world. (Ephesians 4:11-12, Mark 16:15-20)XII. Abundant LifeWe believe that the work of Jesus Christ on the cross provided total redemption for mankind by redeeming us from the curse of the law; spiritual death, sickness and disease, and poverty (Galatians 3:13-14, Deut. 28); and that all believers are entitled to God’s abundance in every area of life in this present life. (John 10:10, 2 Peter 1:3- 4, Mark 10:28-30)a.) Spiritual – (John 3:14-16, 2 Corinthians 5:17, 2 Peter 1:4) b.) Physical – (Isaiah 53:4-5, Matthew 8:16-17, 1 Peter 2:24, James 5:14-16, Romans 8:11) c.) Financial – (3 John 1:2, Luke 18:28-30, Malachi 3:10-11, 2 Corinthians 8:9, Luke 6:38, Deut. 28:1-14) d.) Mental – (2 Timothy 1:7, Romans 12:2, 1 Corinthians 2:16) XIII. The ChurchWe believe that the Church, which is now the Body of Christ on earth and shall be the bride of Christ, is a living, spiritual organism made up of all born again persons irrespective of their affiliation with Christian organizations. (Ephesians 1:22-23, 5:25- 27, 1 Corinthians 12:12-13)XIV. The Ordinances of The ChurchA.) Baptism in WaterWe believe that the baptism by immersion in water is commanded in scripture, and is a declaration to the world that the believer has been identified with Christ in His death and resurrection, and has been raised up with Him to walk in newness of life. (Matthew 28:19, Acts 10:47, Romans 6:3-4, Ephesians 2:1-6)B.) Holy CommunionWe believe that the Lord Jesus Christ instituted the Lord’s Supper (Matthew 18:19-20, 1 Corinthians 11:23-26) consisting of bread and the fruit of the vine, to be a symbol of our sharing the divine nature of Christ (2 Peter 1:4); a memorial of His suffering and death (1 Corinthians 11:26); and a prophecy of His second coming. (1 Corinthians 11:26)XV. The Second Coming of Jesus ChristWe believe that the resurrection of those who have fallen asleep in Christ and their translation together with those who are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord is the imminent and blessed hope of the Church. (Acts 1:9-11, Romans 8:23, 1 Corinthians 15:51-52, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, Titus 2:13)XVI.The Final JudgmentWe believe that there will be a final judgment in which the wicked dead will be raised and judged according to their works. Whosoever is not found written in the Book of Life, together with the devil and his angels, will be consigned to everlasting punishment in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death. (Matthew 25:46, Mark 9:43-48, Revelations 20:11-15)XVIII. The New Heaven and EarthWe believe that following the final judgment there will be created a new heaven and earth, wherein the saints of God will live and reign with God for eternity. (2 Peter 3:13, Revelation 21) |
